"It's all rumor." That was 38-year-old Brett Favre's response via text message when
asked if he was looking to re-sign with the Green Bay Packers this football season.
However, Favre's brother Scott told WTMJ-TV that his brother was working out and
that "It's 50%-50%. There's no doubt he can play. He's in good shape, he's working
out, so, if he did, it wouldn't surprise me."

"The Packers have been preparing to lose Brett Favre the last few football seasons.
Besides drafting Aaron Rodgers with a first-round draft pick, they also acquired
Louisville standout Brian Brohm and LSU's Matt Flynn to their roster," stated Dan
DelGato director of operations for LazerWager. "If Brett Favre plays this football
season, it most likely won't be with the Green Bay Packers," added DelGato.

Week 1 of the 2008-2009 NFL season kicks off on Thursday, September 4, and the
Packers have spent the entire offseason preparing former California Bear star, Aaron
Rodgers, to play quarterback and psychologically closing the door on Favre's 17-year
reign as offensive leader.

Media outlets in Wisconsin reported that Favre or his agent, James \"Bus\" Cook,
contacted the Packers about returning a few weeks ago, and the conversation ended
with the quarterback asking for his release. The team reportedly refused his
request. ESPN\'s sources said that while Favre asking for his release is a
possibility, the situation hasn\'t yet reached that stage.

NFL Players Association spokesman Carl Francis said that Favre is still listed as an
active player. "He never filled out any paperwork officially retiring from the
NFL." After each of the last three NFL seasons there was speculation that Brett
Favre's retirement would be announced, however, it didn't actually happen until last
year. If Favre was serious about returning this football season, the Packer's
general manager would have the option to put Favre on the active roster, trade him,
or release him.

"After seeing Favre wear that number 4 jersey in Green Bay for 17 years, most
football fans can't imagine him playing for a different NFL team, however, Joe
Montana ended his career in Kansas City, Boomer Esaison went to the Jets after 9
years in Cincinnati and Steve McNair played his final year with the Ravens,"
reminded DelGato.

With the lack of quality quarterbacks in the NFL the past few seasons, it won't be
difficult for Favre to find a new home. Several playoff-caliber teams appear to be
just a quarterback away from reaching the Super Bowl, including the Chicago Bears,
Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers.

"With the NFL preseason just weeks away, we'll be posting a prop wager for our
players interested in this Favre situation," said DelGato. "Favre staying retired
will be the favorite, but returning to the NFL with a new team will be close behind!
You'll get the highest odds on him re-signing with the Packers." Visit
LazerWager.com this week to get the actual odds on this Favre situation.

"I know he has the itch to come back and play,\" Packers cornerback Al Harris told
ESPN\'s \"NFL Live.\" Harris said, \"If he will or not, I don\'t know.\"
